Lucknow: Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma held a public hearing at his residence on Monday and listened to grievances brought by people from different parts of Uttar Pradesh. He directed officials to ensure the prompt, time-bound and effective resolution of the complaints.
During the public hearing, residents raised issues related to electricity connections, correction of power bills, drinking water supply, sewerage, waterlogging and other urban civic services. Sharma instructed the concerned officials to take immediate cognisance of the complaints and ensure their resolution within a stipulated timeframe.
Several complaints related to new electricity connections, discrepancies in power bills and other consumer-related issues were brought before the minister. Sharma directed officials to address such matters on priority and ensure that consumers are not forced to make repeated visits to government offices.
He also sought immediate action on complaints concerning drinking water, sewerage and waterlogging. The minister stressed that negligence in matters directly affecting public convenience would not be acceptable and called for effective monitoring of grievance redressal.
Anju Varshney, a resident of Gomti Nagar Extension, raised concerns regarding sanitation and encroachment in the area. Taking immediate cognisance of the complaint, Sharma spoke to Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar over the phone and directed him to ensure appropriate action. He instructed officials to improve cleanliness in the area and take action on the encroachment complaint in accordance with the rules.
Sharma further directed officials to ensure that grievances received during public hearings do not remain confined to paperwork. He emphasised that effective action must be taken on the ground and said resolving public grievances promptly remains a priority of the government.
The minister also called upon officials to deal with complaints with sensitivity and ensure that people receive timely relief from issues affecting their daily lives.
